AKON- THE LIGHT BEARER

Hello Friends of Earth,

It's been a while since I was here to share the green ideas with y'all. Well, I have been up and about trying to light up Africa. And in the same spirit of negawatt revolution will I today extol the good works of my brother from another mother-AKON.
I am sure an average reader of my blog has heard the fantastic news about how Akon intends to invest massively in Solar Electrification for African villages. When I heard it weeks back, I just exhaled and enthused in the good news. Who would ever imagine that Akon would be a Light Bearer in Africa?
The good gesture of the international music star is founded in his deep concern for the common people of Africa, the village people, who cannot afford the luxury of simple electricity in their mud houses. These good folks mostly rely on hurricane lantern or local lamp or candle to give them light in the dark of African nights. Many health complications arise from the use of these crude means to achieve illumination, asides the high cost implications of maintaining these backward light-generators.
More pertinently, the intrinsic value that science and technology adds to life, which for long has been denied the good people of African villages, can now be enjoyed when these folks have their houses powered by solar energy. They can have a well lighted house at night, charge their phones, listen to their transistor radio and imagine they are in paradise. Oh yes! This is a commendable project by a heart that truly loves Africa and I am proud to associate with Akon on this landmark achievement. Akon is a good son of Mama Africa.
My hope as an environmentalist is to have this good gesture emulated and replicated by men of means of African origin who are yet to give back to the motherland. Africa needs help. Africa needs light. Africa needs you.
You can be the next Light Bearer to bring illumination to millions of houses still in darkness in Africa. All it takes is a step and Zeus will bring you up.

I join my brothers and sisters from the Horn of Africa to say “God Bless Akon”.

I urge you all to go and learn about his solar project. Green is the way to go!
