The need for energy audit

Energy Audit and Sustainable Energy- Are they connected?

I was once asked if Nigeria can ever enjoy uninterrupted power supply. Believe me, if you have lived in Nigeria for as long as I have and witnessed the constant blackouts I have witnessed in my life time, then  you too will have a reason to doubt whether we can ever be self sufficient in energy production. But I believe we can.

First, the revolution began years ago, not yesterday. Starting from President Olusegun Obasanjo who laid down the original roadmap to energy sector reform and then continued by President Goodluck Jonathan who has made substantial investments in power sector and recorded laudable achievements, the strive already made in the power sector is enough to guarantee that electric power will be stable in Nigeria.

Again, recent developments in the power sector points in this self sufficiency direction. The declaration of TEM II, to take effect from February 1, 2015 represents Federal Government's resolve to jump start the power sector reform set to take Nigerians out of unceasing black out and set us on the path of unprecedented development.

In this direction, it is very essential for stakeholders in energy industry to conduct energy audit of the Nigerian populace to know EXACTLY the nation's energy need. I know for a fact that it is only Lagos State that has a verifiable energy audit report, undertaken by Lagos Electricity Board years ago. This laudable effort should be emulated by other states of the Federation, Utility companies, Transmission companies and other stakeholders in the power/ energy industry. It is in the spirit of Negawatt Revolution in Africa!

When we know how much energy is required to power Nigeria's Industrial revolution, then we can know for certain how to distribute, manage and innovate on our energy needs. Energy audit also helps organisations to cut costs on energy usage and it is in line with international best practices.

And in this regards, Zeus Energy Limited is ready to partner with interested stakeholders in conducting standard energy audit for the nation. We have done it before, having participated in Lagos State Energy Audit and are anxious to contribute our technical quota to Power Sector reform in Nigeria.

Do you have questions about energy audit or power sector reform in Nigeria? Feel free to ask me.

Save the trees, save the world

Save a tree, save the world.

What a noble aspiration! I remember years ago when I first began to be fascinated with the beauty of the world. It was purely magical. Walking deep into the bush beside our apartment, I would gape at the trees, the greenery and the birds. The images of teak and cassia trees and the tweets of sunbirds and oreoles still linger in my brain today.
Fast forward to the next 200 years, it is very possible my son's son might not have the opportunity to gape in wonder at nature as I did unless we all, of this generation, are ready to take a stand to protect and preserve the world for them. And we can do this simply by change in attitude.
Knowing each time you switch off your unused electrical appliance or take an energy conservation initiative, a tree is saved; the world of my generation can preserve the magic of yesterday's green world for the coming generation. I urge all my readers to take this message to heart and spread it.
We need to save energy in order to save the tree. We need to save the trees in order to save the world. Join Zeus Energy Limited as we continue to add to our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) counter, aiming with you to build it into the largest in the world via energy management. An ambitious project you think? But it is achievable!
See you soon.

The Miracle of Technology

The Miracle Of Technology

Negawatt Revolution in Africa is hinged on a lot of factors. First, the widespread knowledge of energy conservation ideas, like knowing five trees are saved each time we remember to switch off electrical appliances when they are on standby. This knowledge alone is the soul of negawatt revolution because change in behavior can only come when the imperative is loaded with value.

Another factor that can fast track negawatt revolution in Africa is technology. Innovations in renewable energy, battery technologies, energy monitor and control systems and other related techies goes more than a mile in futhering the milestone aspired towards in Negawatt Revolution in Africa. In this wise, Zeus Energy Limited as a stakeholder in Africa's drive towards sustainable energy in the continent partners with Efergy Technologies UK in delivering bespoke technological solutions to corporate organisations and government through their top range energy management systems.

As a testament to this synergy, Zeus Energy Limited successfully automated the interior lighting of the premier Lagos Energy Academy (LEA) located in Ikeja, Lagos State. With Efergy Ego smart socket, our energy specialists set up the academy's lighting to be remotely controlled- On The Go. With this socket/device, Lagos Energy Academy can monitor, control, manage, and customize its energy usage using latest technology (Internet of things).

We urge you all to spread the word about this milestone and encourage your friends and lovers to conserve energy at all times.

We wish you a green Valentine day's celebration

Negawatt-An Introduction!

A negawatt is a unit in watts of energy saved. It is the total sum of collective energy we save by adopting green attitudes in our day to day living. Have you ever taken a pause to reflect on how much we waste energy that is not even enough for us simply by our ignorance of energy management.

For instance, by simply switching off the TV when we leave the sitting room to the bedroom; or switching off the bedroom light when we return to the sitting room can generate 600000 negawatts-enough to power a city. A simple behavioral change is all it takes to conserve the planet and save it for the coming generations to enjoy.

Join Zeus Energy Limited, an energy management company located in Lagos, Nigeria in building the largest Virtual Power Plant (VPP) in the world. The journey has already begun. For each energy saving tip shared; each incandescent bulb replaced with energy saving bulb; for every standby appliance switched off, we add a negawatt to the VPP.

As exclusive distributor of Efergy energy saving systems, ranging from energy monitors, Standby Eliminator Footswitch, Media Standby Killer, Efergy Wifi Socket and many more; each day we add a unit of negawatt to the largest Virtual Power Plant.

Join us in spreading the message of energy conservation. Join us in the Negawatt Revolution.

See ya soon.
